Maria’s provocative appeal to Muslims

Farrukhabad (Uttar Pradesh) – “You will have to do ‘Vote Jihad’ to oust the BJP from power”, appealed Samajwadi Party leader Maria Alam to provoke the Muslims during election campaign at Kaimganj. A case has been registered against Maria Alam after a complaint was lodged against her for using the word ‘Vote Jihad’. Maria is the niece of Congress leader and former Union Minister Salman Khurshid. Khurshid was also present on the stage at this time. Therefore, both Khurshid and Maria Alam were charged with IPC section 188 and 295A.

Maria Alam Khan appealed to the Muslim community to do ‘Vote Jihad’ in Loksabha election and to socially boycott those Muslims who support BJP.

Maria Alam tries to give explanation

In her speech, Maria Alam also called for a boycott of Muslims who support the BJP. After the case was registered, Maria Alam, giving an explanation, said, “I was campaigning for the election and was in my community. The voting percentage is decreasing. That is why I used the word ‘Jihad’. Jihad means struggle. What meaning did you take of my speech, I don’t know.”
