Old man beaten up by a priest in Puttur, Karnataka

Puttur (Karnataka) – An incident occurred on 29th February when a senior priest of the Manel Church in Puttur beat up an elderly person in his own home. The video of the incident has been circulated on social media. People are enraged due to this incident. A complaint has been lodged with the Police.

Pastor Nelson Oliveira visited the home of Gregory Montero (age 79 years), a resident of Ermetadka, Punach village, for house cleaning. At that time, Pastor Nelson scolded the old man saying that ‘the old man is not cooperating with the church by donating anything’. They also grabbed Montera’s shirt collar dragged him and beat him up.

Interestingly, the same priest had behaved in the same way in Talpadi, Sampike Church earlier, say the locals. (If action had been taken against this priest then this incident would not have occurred. – Editor)
