Situation at LAC ‘generally stable’ : China’s misleading claim

China had rejected India’s demand to withdraw troops from Depsang and Demchok

Colonel Zhang Xiaogang, spokesman of China’s Ministry of Defense

Beijing (China) – China has claimed that the situation with India along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) is normal. A few days ago, India’s Defense Secretary Giridhar Aramane had said that ‘India is standing against a bully and the Indian Army is fighting it bravely.’

1. China’s Ministry of Defense Spokesman Colonel Zhang Xiaogang said that the 21st round of corps commander-level meeting was held between the two countries on 19 th February. The discussion was positive. Both countries agreed to a settlement considering each other’s concerns about the Line of Actual Control.

2. Despite China’s claims, India’s demand to withdraw troops from the track junctions at Depsang and Demchok was rejected during the meeting.

3. A report by ‘PTI’ in this regard stated, ‘no concrete decision was reached in the meeting to reduce the tension between the two countries.’

4. Spokesman for China’s Ministry of Defense called it a false report. The military relationship between the two countries is very important for China. We hope that India and China will continue to work together to resolve differences and enhance mutual trust.
