For the first time, the ruling Democratic Party to devote a special page for Hindus in its manifesto

The US Presidential Election

Washington (USA) – There will be a Presidential election in the USA this year. Candidates of the Republican and Democratic parties will contest this election. Leaders of both parties are trying to get nominations. Against this background, for the first time in the history of the USA, the ruling Democratic Party will keep a page in its manifesto for Hindus to appease them for their votes. The page will contain the Party’s promises to Hindus. Till now, the Democratic Party used to have independent pages for followers of other religions, such as Muslims and Jews. There are approximately 30 lakh Hindu voters in the USA. It may be noted that in the USA, it is legally necessary to fulfil the promises made in the manifesto.

Editorial Perspective

In India, no political party has ever fulfilled its promises as per the records. In India, political parties should be legally made to fulfil their promises to the voters.

Owing to its support to Israel in the war with Hamas, Muslims may not be inclined towards the Democratic Party. In such a situation, the party may try to attract Hindu voters. – Ms Bhavini Patel, Candidate for Democratic Party in Pennsylvania

American political parties did not publicly acknowledge Hindu voters earlier, but considering the increasing influence of Hindus in the country, none of the parties would be able to ignore Hindu voters now. It will, therefore, be appropriate to have an independent page for Hindus in the manifesto. – Ramesh Kapur, a fundraiser of the Democratic Party

Among 16 States out of 50 States in the USA, Hindu votes are pivotal while in Wisconsin, Georgia and Pennsylvania States, Hindu and Muslim voters are equal.

Editorial Perspective

It is a known fact that although supposed to be a secular country, Christianity is given priority because the majority population is Christians in the USA; whereas in India Hindus are the majority in the country, but they are not given any importance. Now, for Hindu votes, the Democratic Party is trying to appease Hindus. It needs to be remembered that it didn’t care for Hindus earlier.
