Experts to impart training on 18 Art forms in Marathi schools

Includes music, singing, drama, oratory, etc.

Mumbai – The State Government has decided to impart education in 18 Art forms and crafts subjects to students in Marathi schools to develop their skills. The training will be given by renowned personalities in the respective field and includes arts like music, singing, drama, oratory, drawing, etc. This training will be started in the coming academic year, informed Deepak Kesarkar, the Education Minister, in a press conference held on 9th February 2024.

He said that experts from different fields would give online training, by directly interacting with students. In the first phase, 65,000 schools will be linked under this initiative. The students will be from the first to eighth standard. Competitions will also be held to check how the initiative benefitted students to learn in this manner. It will help in the personality development of students.

Saturdays will be joyful for students

Students will study from the textbooks from Mondays to Fridays, but Saturdays will be joyful for them and reserved for learning music, agriculture, reading, etc. This one day will be a play day or a fun day for students. A proper plan is being devised by the Education Department. Training in agriculture will be made compulsory for students.

Schools not changing timings, will lose licence !

The State Government has shifted the school timings from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. two days back for all pre-primary and primary schools from the next academic year. Deepak Kesarkar said that the change in the timings was thought of, considering the change in lifestyles and convenience of students. The schools which do not implement the change will face legal action. All private schools have to approach the Government to renew their licence every three years. The schools not abiding by the timings will lose their licence.
