‘May Khader go to hell’ : A religious Muslim leader opposes Khader

U T Khader, Deputy Speaker of Karnataka Legislative Assembly, visits a Hindu temple to fulfil his vow

Mangaluru (Karnataka) – Karnataka Deputy Speaker U T Khader joined the puja of Karluti Kalkuda at the Shri Kshetra Panolibail to fulfil his vow. This act of Khader has been objected to through social media by Saletturu Faizi, a Muslim religious leader. His post said, “Let Khader offer pooja to the Hindu Deities. Let him consume Prasad, apply tilak on his forehead, and go to hell. That is his freedom. That is given to all Indians by the Constitution. I do not have the authority to prevent it. Muslims should look at Khader only as a politician, not as a religious leader. In the programmes of religious Muslim leaders, it would not be appropriate to invite him as ‘a hero of Muslims’. Doing that will be seen as our acceptance of his worship of Ghosts. A wrong message will go to the Muslim community.”

Editorial Perspective

The mentality of the religious leaders can be understood from the language they use for a highly placed individual from their religious community ! Will such leaders ever teach their community about religious equality or secularism ? It would not be wrong to say that they would rather provoke their community to attack the Hindus.
