Inspector General of Police Sandeep Patil

Mumbai – Naxalites are planning to carry out violent activities in five Maharashtra cities before the Lok Sabha elections to create discontent against the Government. Inspector General of Nagpur Police Sandeep Patil has informed that Naxalists have plotted terror activities across Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Nagpur and Gondia.

IGP Patil said,

1. United Front is a faction of Maoists. These Maoist groups are working to create anger against the Government through farmers and students.

2. Confidential information on urban Naxalites has been received. They have crated their system in the cities of Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur, Gondia and Nagpur. Urban Naxalism is spreading in these cities. We are keeping a watch on the activities of 54 organisations that support Urban Naxalism.

3. Urban Naxalites are trying to create anti-Government sentiments in the society and carry out violent protests. Such evidence has come into the hands of the Police.

4. Some youngsters from the Pune slums are being sent to the forest for Naxalite movement. Santosh Selar, who is in ATS custody in Pune, was sent to the forest by the Naxalites. Urban Naxalites are recruiting such youths and sending them to the forest for training to carry out Naxalist activities.

Editorial Perspective

To end Naxalism, it is necessary to first end the Urban Naxalism that thrives in cities. This problem is as serious as Jihadi terrorism and the Government should take measures to solve it !
