Padma Awards 2024 : 5 Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan, 110 Padma Shri

Padma Shri awarded to H.H. Swami Chitta Ranjan Maharaj from Shantikali Ashram in Tripura

New Delhi – On the prior evening of Republic Day, the Union Government announced the Padma Awards 2024. This year, a total of 132 names were declared for Padma awards, out of which five Padma Vibhushan Awards, 17 Padma Bhushan Awards and 110 Padma Shri Awards have been declared. These include twelve individuals from Maharashtra and one from Goa.

Senior BJP leader and former Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu, famous South Indian actor Chiranjeevi along with five individuals will be awarded Padma Vibhushan, which is India’s second-highest civilian award.

Some names announced for the award

1. Padma Shri to H.H. Swami Chitta Ranjan Maharaj from Shantikali Ashram, Tripura working in the field of spirituality !

2. Padma Shri to Parvati Barua from Assam, the country’s first woman mahout

3. Ayurvedic Medicine expert Yanung Jamoh Logo of Arunachal Pradesh State honoured Padma Shri. He has treated more than 10,000 patients so far. Along with this, one lakh patients have been taught how to use Ayurvedic medicines.

4. Hemchand Manjhi of Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh, who has been providing health care for many decades in villages, has also been awarded the Padma Shri.

5. Chami Murmu from Jharkhand has been also conferred with the Padma Shri award. He provided self-employment to 28,000 women in the last 28 years.

6. Padma Shri award to tribal environmentalist Dukhu Majhi from Purulia Sindari village in Bengal. He has made extraordinary efforts for afforestation and has planted more than 5,000 Banyan, Mango and Blackberry trees while travelling on a bicycle.

7. Gurvinder Singh, a disabled social activist from Sirsa, Haryana, will also be awarded the Padma Shri award. He has done a lot of work for orphans, women and the disabled.

8. K Chellammal, an organic farmer from Andaman and Nicobar will also be awarded Padma Shri.

9. Padma Shri awarded to Satyanarayan Belleri, a rice producer of Kasaragod, Kerala, for his special contribution to the field of agriculture.

10. International Mallakhamba coach Uday Vishwanath Deshpande was awarded Padma Shri for playing an important role in making Mallakhamba popular again.

11. Uma Maheshwari D known as ‘Swar Maheshwari’ has been awarded Padma Shri. She was the first female Harikatha exponent and mastered the Sanskrit language.

Twelve individuals from Maharashtra while one from Goa will receive Padma Shri

Among the 12 dignitaries from Maharashtra, namely former Union Minister Ram Naik, senior director Dattatray Ambadas Mayalu alias Rajdutt, Senior Musician Pyarelal Sharma, writer Hormusji N. Kama, Kundan Vyas, Ashwin Balchand Mehta have been awarded Padma Bhushan award.

Sanjay Anant Patil from Goa has been awarded the Padma Shri for his outstanding work in the field of agriculture.
