Religious fanatic lawyers leave Court proceedings midway for namaz

Lucknow (UP) – Justice Vivekananda Sharan Tripathi of NIA’s special Court here expressed concern over the behaviour of lawyers who left the Court proceedings midway to offer the Friday namaz. Justice Tripathi said lawyers should remember that work is worship and should respect their judicial duties. He also ordered to provide amicus curiae (friend of the Court) to the accused in the illegal religious conversion case, by which if the Muslim lawyers leave the proceedings for namaz, amicus curiae can continue with it.

1. Justice Tripathi gave this order while hearing the criminal case against Maulana Kalimuddin and other accused in the illegal conversion case. The Court also rejected the petition of the lawyers who sought some documents on behalf of the accused Maulana.
2. The time for cross-examination of the witnesses was fixed. At 12:20 p.m., advocate Mohammad Amir Nadvi and advocate Zia-ul-Jilani told the Court that as it was a Friday, they could not continue the Court proceedings.
3. The Court told them that it would not be correct to allow them to go outside the Court for namaz. The hearing will not be completed if the Muslim lawyers continue to go outside the Court for namaz.
4. Despite the Court’s instructions, the lawyers left the Court proceedings. (Religious fanatics dare to ignore even a judge’s instruction – Editor). The Court then adjourned the proceedings and warned the advocates.

Editorial Perspective

When Hindu Government employees apply tilak on their foreheads or organise Satyanarayan puja at Government offices, pseudo-seculars preach to them that the ‘Indian Constitution is secular’. Where do these preachers disappear when such incidents occur ?
