New Delhi – Indian Navy’s guided missile destroyer INS Visakhapatnam, deployed in the Gulf of Aden for anti-piracy operations, responded swiftly to a drone attack last night by Yemen’s Houthi rebels on Marshall Island flagged ship ‘MV Genco Picardy’, having nine Indian crew members on board. The ship’s crew are safe despite a fire on board, which has been brought under control. The Indian Navy informed that the attack took place on 16th January around 11 p.m. It is still not clear who is responsible for the attack.

US launches new strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen
The United States military said its forces launched strikes on 14 Houthi missiles ‘that were loaded to be fired’ from Yemen in the fourth day of direct attacks on the Iran-aligned group in less than a week. The US says it is trying to stop Houthi attacks on merchant ships in the Arabian Sea by launching strikes in Yemen. The Houthi rebels, on the other hand, say they will continue to attack ships in support of Gaza.
