Will work to save Taiwan from China – Taiwan’s newly elected President Lai Ching-te

Taipei (Taiwan) – Lai Ching-te has won the presidential election in Taiwan. Talking to the media, he said, “We will work to save the country from China. We hope that China will understand our new position in the future. China should understand that instead of threatening us, it will be more beneficial to them if they have peaceful talks.”

Taiwan’s Ministry of Defence said, “A Chinese ‘air balloon’ (a large gas balloon) was spotted passing through our border. We condemn it. This incident is dangerous for our aviation. After this, 8 Chinese fighter jets and 6 warships were spotted in our airspace.”

The United States of America congratulated Lai Ching-te for his victory. The US said that they would work with and support Taiwan.

Will not change our policy about Taiwan – China

On the other hand, in Taiwan’s election, China said, “Any change happening in Taiwan will not change our policy. This cannot change the fact that ‘Taiwan is a part of China’. We think the international community will understand China’s move and take it seriously.”
