‘Aditya L1’
Bengaluru (Karnataka) – Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)’s ‘Aditya L1’spacecraft launched to study the Sun has reached ‘Lagrange Point 1’ at 4 pm on 6 th January. The spacecraft was launched on 2 nd September 2023. After traveling 1.5 lakh km in 126 days, it reached this point in ‘halo orbit’. The spacecraft will observe the Sun here for the next 5 years. For this success, Prime Minister Modi has posted on X wishing the citizens.

What is ‘Lagrange Point 1’?
The ‘Lagrange Point’ is named after the Italian-French Mathematician Joseph-Louis Lagrange. It is also known as ‘L1’. There are 5 points between the Earth and the Sun, where the gravitational forces of the Sun and the Earth are balanced. If any object is placed at these points, it starts rotating easily around that point. The first Lagrange point is 1.5 million km away from the Earth between the Earth and the Sun. Eclipse has no effect on this point. The Sun is 15 crore km away from this point.
