Religious fanatics pelt stones at the Police after a dispute broke out regarding temple compound wall

Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh) – The local religious fanatics opposed the construction of a compound wall of Mata Chamunda temple in Mundha Pande area in Moradabad. They started fighting with Hindus present at the site. The situation escalated to the point where stones were pelted by them at the Police attempting to control the matter. The video of this incident that is circulated on social media shows that even religious fanatic women were involved in this violence. The incident took place on 19th December. The Police have filed cases against 34 individuals of which 5 have been arrested. Abdullah and Rahis are the main accused in this case who gathered more people and started the violence.

1. As the compound walls of Mata Chamunda temple were in a dilapidated condition, Hindu devotees were demanding their renovation.

2. On 25thNovember 2023 the construction work began, when the religious fanatics opposed it. The Police arrived at the site and stopped the construction.

3. On 19th December the construction work was resumed. The religious fanatics became violent trying to stop the work. Currently, there is large Police presence in the village and the situation is under control.

4. Zebunnisa, a woman lawyer representing the religious fanatics, said that though the temple was there since long time, Hindus are now trying to expand its premises.

Editorial Perspective

This kind of arrogance by the religious fanatics despite Yogi Adityanath Government in the UP, is a sign that the religious fanatics do not care for law and order at all ! Hence, the Government should imprison them and give them strict punishment.

It should not be a surprise if the religious fanatics take over the temple land in Moradabad. They have already encroached acres of land of Hindus and the Government in the name of Waqf law !
