Mau (Uttar Pradesh) – Violence erupted near Badagaon late on the night of November 15 after Muslims attacked a Hindu youth with sharp weapons over a minor collision involving a motorcycle. Police intervened promptly to control the situation, and a heavy police presence has been deployed in the area.
Sukhdev Rajbhar, who was gravely injured in the attack, was rushed to a hospital in Varanasi. He stated, “Four individuals on two motorcycles approached me, abused me, and started assaulting me. One of them removed a knife attached to a scooter key and threatened to kill me. A crowd gathered and tried to calm them down, after which initially they left. Later, as I was helping my niece into a vehicle, they returned and stabbed me multiple times from behind.”
Upon learning about the attack, enraged Hindus took to the streets, demanding strict action against the radical attackers. Protesters surrounded the hospital and police station, leading to incidents of stone-pelting. In response, the police used lathis to disperse the crowd.
Local MP Rajeev Rai has urged people to maintain peace and has called on the administration to take stringent action against the culprits to ensure justice for the victim.
