Pakistan rattled over India’s acquisition of weapons

Islamabad, Pakistan – Pakistan has expressed its deep concern on the destabilising developments in South Asia where one State’s military spending vastly outnumbers that of all others. The country has maintained that the generous supply of conventional weaponry to this state, together with its strategic capabilities, is fuelling instability, jeopardising the delicate regional balance, hindering resolution of longstanding disputes. It could lead to conflict between nuclear-armed countries. Deputy Permanent Representative Ambassador Usman Jadoon expressed these remarks in a statement he made during the UN Security Council Open Debate on addressing the threat posed by diversion, illicit trafficking and misuse of small arms and light weapons and their ammunition to peace and security.
