7 temples in Maharashtra leading in modernisation and good management

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar – 7 temples in the State are becoming top in the country in the ‘Smart Temple Mission’ launched by the ‘Temple Connect’ organisation for providing services and facilities to the devotees and streamlining the management through technology. It has studied 9,864 temples in 57 countries around the world. In this, Vitthal Rukmini Temple of Srikshetra Pandharpur, Saibaba Temple of Shirdi, ISKCON Temple of Nagpur, Shri Ambikadevi Temple of Amravati, Rakshasabhuvan Temple of Beed and Nageshwara Temple of Aundha Nagnath have been declared as ‘Smart Temples’ due to the services and facilities provided to the devotees and effective management. There are 30-32 lakh temples in the country and a few crores of devotees go there daily for darshan. With the aim of modernising the management of temples for their convenience, Girish Kulkarni from Pune started the ‘Smart Temple Mission’ campaign in the year 2007 by talking to the temple managers. After seeing the benefits of this, many temples participated in this campaign.

Temples across the world are joining the ‘Smart Temple Mission’. It was launched with the aim of making the management of the temples easier for the devotees and promoting religious tourism. Temples in Marathwada and Vidarbha are fast becoming ‘smart’. Also, since the temples are connected to each other, they are benefiting from mutual coordination and communication between them.

What is Temple Mission ?

Under the mission, darshan system, prasadalayas, online booking, social media platform, parking lot, water system, accommodation system, security system, operations, disaster management, toilets, facility room, funds room are all being modernised.
