Mumbai – Hundreds of Hindus took to the streets in Dongri on the night of 24 th November against fanatical and arrogant Muslims who took out unauthorised processions with loud DJ music late into the night. In this case, the Police have registered a complaint at V.P. Road and J.J.Road Police Station.
The processions have been ongoing for the past four days on occasion of the Urs in the Dargah of Rehman Shah Baba in Dongri. Despite lacking official authorisation, Muslims in the area have been organising evening processions that extend until 11 to 11:30 p.m. The procession, which commenced from Bhendi Bazar-Dongri to Denkan Road, was carried out without the necessary permissions. Despite the prohibition on DJ music, it is played loudly during these processions, leading to a continuous disturbance. Frustrated by this regular disruption, hundreds of Hindus, including members of various pro-Hindu organisations from different parts of Mumbai, gathered near Gol Mandir to voice their concerns. Subsequently, they filed a complaint at V.P. Road and J.J. Road Police Station.
Frenzy of fanatics in the name of Urs and Police’s passive stance
The Police were present during the procession; however, they merely assumed the role of observers concerning the unauthorised procession and the illegal use of DJs. Processions, without proper authorisation, are being carried out in various parts of Mumbai during the Urs celebrations of local dargahs, accompanied by loud DJ music. Although these processions are carried out under Police protection, no action is being taken against these illegal activities by the law enforcement.
The procession will not be allowed without permission – Police assurance
After hundreds of Hindus filed a complaint against this, the Police assured that processions would not be allowed without permission, and DJ music would not be played during the procession.
