New Delhi – The famous Jama Masjid in Delhi has encroached upon two public parks near the mosque. A person, named Mohammad Arslan, filed a petition in the Delhi High Court against the encroachment. During the hearing, the Court criticised MCD for failing to protect two public parks illegally held by Jama Masjid authorities and directed MCD to regain possession of the parks. The Court said we are not living in a country where there is no rule of law.

MCD said in the Court that the parks have been illegally controlled by the management of Jama Masjid and Shahi Imam. They have even locked the parks. MCD officers are not allowed to go there and on the other hand, Delhi Waqf Board is claiming it as its own property. (How can MCD so shamelessly admit to such things in the Court ? Now, the Union Government has to brace itself for quashing the ‘Waqf Act’ which is aimed at taking control of this Hindu Nation. – Editor)

Expressing its displeasure over MCD’s explanation, the Delhi High Court said, “How can anyone get control over public parks ? MCD should take legal action to take back control of the parks and if necessary, Police assistance will also be provided. MCD administration cannot lose possession of public parks in this manner, and it should ensure they are open to the public.” (Will MCD show necessary guts now ? – Editor)

Editorial Perspectives

  • It is shameful that despite having all Government resources at its disposal, a mosque is illegally taking over public property. What was the MCD Administration doing till the mosque took over the public parks ? Had the issue not been taken to the Court, the Court would not have issued such an order, and it would have been declared as the mosque’s property.
  • Not only in Delhi but also in many places across the country, mosques have encroached upon public lands and there is now, a need to set up an independent Department to relieve such lands from illegal control of mosques.
