New Delhi – The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has formed groups of different subjects to compile its new books. At the same time, some States have opposed providing education according to Indian culture.
Maharshi Kanad first discovered the atomic theory !
‘Knowledge of India’ is one of the groups of different subjects for compiling new books. Instructions have been sought from the States regarding these subjects. In this notification, the States of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Jharkhand, say that the English chemist John Dalton should not be taught as the ‘father of atomic theory’, when many centuries before him, Maharshi Kanad had given information about the smallest indivisible particle of matter, an atom. It was Maharshi Kanad who defined the atom and its compound form, motion, and chemical processes. Maharishi Kanad had formulated Vaisheshik Sutra before Newton. It mentions the laws of motion.
Suggestions and objections by various States
Maharshi Bharadwaj invented the aeroplane, not Wright Brothers : Uttar Pradesh
The State of Uttar Pradesh said that Maharshi Bharadwaj wrote Vimanshastra in the 4th century BC, thousands of years before the Wright Brothers. It mentions every type of aircraft and air weapon. It is also written in Skandpuran that Sage Kardam made a plane for his wife to travel anywhere.
Add Vedic Math equations to syllabus : Gujarat
A note from Gujarat states that ‘Astrology and Astronomy are two sides of the same coin. Solar eclipses and lunar eclipses are predicted based on astrological calculations. Therefore, the equations of Vedic mathematics should be added to the syllabus. Apart from this, Aniruddha, the grandson of Shrikrushna, had a rocket with ammunition. The note also states that earthquakes were predicted by Varahamihir in the 5th century.
Haryana : Teach children subjects that will help them learn by analysing past mistakes (Mughal and British invasions).
Madhya Pradesh : Teach the summary of Upanishads, Geeta, Mahabharat, and Ramayan in the history curriculum.
Chhattisgarh : Incorporate Sitamata’s avatar from Ramayan and Hanuman’s bringing Sanjeevani from the Himalayas into the syllabus.
Nagaland : Do not include the Gurukul system, because girls were not allowed in it. (What else would you expect from Nagaland, being a Christian-majority State ? – Editor)
Andhra Pradesh : Don’t add superstitions under the guise of Indianisation. (Those who know the difference between faith and superstition would never form such an opinion ! – Editor)
