Raj Kundra’s complaint to the National Human Rights Commission
Mumbai – Prisoners openly smoke in prisons. Due to this prison is filled with smoke. Entrepreneur Raj Kundra has complained through a letter to the National Human Rights Commission that it causes health hazards to other prisoners. In this letter, it is said that the prisoners are being treated inhumanely in the jail.
Prisons are overcrowded in the jail. The Administration acknowledges that the prisons are overcrowded, but it does not take any action on it. 250 prisoners are kept in the ‘barrack’ which has a capacity of 49 prisoners. The situation is such that no one can even move while sleeping at night. Raj Kundra said in the complaint that the new prisoners are asked to sleep in the middle of the crowd. Mumbai Police arrested Raj Kundra for producing porn videos in July 2021. Kundra was lodged in Arthur Road Jail for two months. He is currently out on bail.
Editorial Perspective
A lot of information has come out about the mismanagement of prisons in India; however, it is unfortunate that the Governments have not taken any action to improve it. |
