China’s second spy vessel to dock Sri Lankan port

India expressed concerns

Colombo (Sri Lanka) – China is going to dock its ‘Shi Yan 6’ a sophisticated spy vessel to Sri Lanka under the guise of research. The Sri Lankan Navy has granted permission to China for the same. Furthermore, they have sent a positive recommendation to the Ministry of Defence and External Affairs. Thus, this boat will reach Sri Lanka on 6th October. China sent its ‘Yuan Wang-5’ spy boat to Sri Lanka’s Hambantota port last year. India opposed this; however, Sri Lanka allowed the boat to dock despite its opposition. Even now, India has opposed and expressed concerns about allowing the vessel ‘Shi Yan 6’ to dock at Sri Lankan port. However, some defence experts in Sri Lanka have also opposed granting permission to China.

Cunning China

China declares the vessels as research vessels but actually, they carry military-grade espionage systems on them. After reaching the Sri Lankan port, Chinese vessels can keep a close watch on the coasts of the Indian States of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. The Chinese vessel that arrived last year at Hambantota had a missile system under the guise of research.

Editorial viewpoint

India should rethink its decision to help Sri Lanka in every way if Sri Lanka is going to continue to help China in such a way. India should not commit self-suicide by adhering to the saying – If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to him or her other also.
