Washington (US) -In the forthcoming election in the US, the discussion is centered around the name of Vivek Ramaswamy, who comes from an Indian background, as the potential candidate for the Republican Party for the position of President. Some people have also shown support for him. As Vivek Ramaswamy is a Hindu, many Christian priests have opposed him. Even the Trump-supporting priest Hank Kunneman has said that if Ramaswamy were elected, you would see peculiarly shaped Hindu Deity Idols in the White House.
According to an article published in ‘The Rolling Stone’ magazine, Kunneman criticised Ramaswamy for his proclamations regarding Hinduism. Kunneman said, “Ramaswamy’s version of ‘New Youth Power’ poses a threat to us. If that person doesn’t serve Lord Jesus, then your God will be displeased with you. What are you doing ? Will you put your hand on any religious scripture other than the Bible?”
Father John Bennet from Oklahoma falsely stated about Ramaswamy, claiming that he professed Christianity to gain Hindu votes. However, Ramaswamy has never made such a claim.
According to an article published in ‘The New York Times,’ after Ramaswamy, the second candidate from the Republican Party, D. Saintis, can focus on their religion and heritage. This way, he could win over Christian conservative votes.
For me, Hinduism is not a dilemma, but a unique advantage – Vivek Ramaswamy
Editor’s Note – Where is the Congress Party, which harbours latent animosity towards Hinduism, and Hinduism-lovers like Vivek Ramaswamy ?
Ramaswamy’s parents permanently settled in the US from India. Ramaswamy himself has preserved his Hindu faith.
He says, “For me, Hinduism is not a dilemma, but a unique advantage. I always stand unafraid for the revival of my faith, without any fear.”
He previously advocated for increased cooperation between India and the US. He stated that India and the US share a relationship based on trust, which has not been established in either country. If I couldn’t foster trust between the two countries during my tenure, then I failed.
He has emphasised that divisions in society are not confined to Hindus, Christians, or Jews, but rather to those who believe in ‘True Gods’ versus those who attempt to reshape religion under the guise of ‘wokeism,’ including climate change and LGBTQ rights.
Editorial Viewpoint
Hindu-hatred of the US is clearly seen here. American Hindus are considered traditional voters of the Republican Party. Hence, if someone from the Hindu community were to be a candidate for the presidential position, would priests of Christian faith, who are considered nationalists, feel displeased ? This reveals the deceptive facade of this political party’s so-called affection for Hindus. |
