Golaghat (Assam) – Everything is fair in love and war. Our ancient Holy books have such stories, e.g., Bhagawan Shrikrushna’s eloping with Rukmini. The State Chief Minister Sarma should not create confusion about inter-religion marriages, stated Assam Congress President Bhupen Borah, while speaking about an incident of ‘Love Jihad’. A case has been filed against him for hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus. A Muslim named Najibur Rahman assumed himself as a Hindu and trapped a Hindu young woman, Sanghmitra Ghosh, in his fake love. Later, he killed the girl and her parents.

We don’t drag Prophet Mohammad and Jesus Christ in every dispute ! – CM Sarma

On Borah’s statement, CM Sarma said, “Linking Bhagawan Shrikrushna’s name to ‘Love Jihad’ is most unfortunate. Such a statement has hurt the sentiments of the Sanatani people. How can I stop from taking action if someone lodged a complaint about it ? If a case is filed, it will lead to arrest. We don’t drag Prophet Mohammad and Jesus Christ in every dispute. If Congress made these kinds of statements, their address must be of some mosque or a madarasa”.

Bhupen Borah apologises for his statement

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Borah sought forgiveness from the people of Assam for brazenly equating Shrikrushna and Rukmini’s relationship as Love Jihad, saying that his ancestors reprimanded him in his dreams.

“Last night, I had a vision in my sleep. My ancestors came to me in my dream and made me realise my mistake over the comments. They told me to visit a Namghar and pray,” the Congress leader told reporters in Guwahati.

What else can one expect from a Congressmen ? Had Borah made such a statement against a place of worship of a non-Hindu, a fatwa would have been issued by now for chopping off his head. Will Hindus, who vote for Congress, realise Congress’ support for ‘Love Jihad’ ?
