Imphal (Manipur) – The strife-torn Manipur has been witnessing clashes between the Meitei and Kuki communities for the last two months. An infuriating incident has been brought forth wherein two women were disrobed and paraded by a mob. They were even gang raped as per the case filed by the Police. The Police have arrested a 33-year-old person in this connection, named Heram Hera Das. Police informed that some more people would be taken into custody in the next few hours. On 4th May 2023, the incident occurred in the Thoubal District of Manipur. The Police registered a case of kidnapping, gang rape, and murder against unknown persons, after 25 days, but nobody was arrested till now. The Police started taking action only after a video of the incident was made viral on social media. (Action needs to be taken against the Police for their inaction ! – Editor)

After the video became viral on social media, the Government issued an order to not show the video on Facebook, Twitter, etc. and warned of taking action if it was made viral.

We will look into if a death sentence can be given in this case ! – CM N Biren Singh

The State Chief Minister N Biren Singh informed that he felt very sad about the incident. The State Government took note as the video became viral, and the first arrest was made this morning. Presently, the case is being thoroughly investigated. It will be seen that all the guilty people would get the severest punishment, including the death sentence, if possible.

PM Narendra Modi stated in his tweet that he was distressed and angered. The incident in Manipur will make all people feel ashamed. Keep aside who were the people committing such sin, how many people were involved, but this incident has made 140 crore people of this country hang their heads in shame. I appeal to all Chief Ministers to strengthen law and order in their States. Take severe steps for the protection of our ‘Mothers and Sisters’. Let such an incident be of Rajasthan or Chhattisgarh or Manipur, we must go beyond the political differences and maintain law and order, pay due respect to the women of this country in every part of this country. I want to assure the citizens of this country that the guilty would not go scot-free. The law will take stringent steps. Whatever happened with Manipur women can never be forgiven.
