Taken to jail in Dibrugarh, Assam

Moga (Punjab) – Amritpal Singh, the chief of the Khalistani organisation ‘Waris Punjab De’ (Heirs of Punjab), who has been on the loose for the past 36 days, was finally arrested by the Police from Bhindranwale Gurdwara in Rode village here. This village is the birthplace of Khalistani terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.

Amritpal wanted to surrender to the Police along with his aides, but before that, he was arrested by the Police. After his arrest, he was airlifted to Dibrugarh jail in Assam. He will be kept there. It was decided to keep him in a prison in distant Assam as there was a possibility that if he was kept in a Punjab jail, he would brainwash the prisoners there and drag them into Khalistani activities. Some of his accomplices have also been kept in jail in Dibrugarh earlier.
