Global Terrorism Index 2022
New Delhi – The Institute of Economics and Peace from Sydney, Australia published ‘The Global Terrorism Index 2022’, which listed 20 leading terrorist organisations of the world. India’s ‘Communist Party of India (Maoist)’ ranks 12th in the list. It is not clear whether the list mentions the Communist Party of India which is a national political party or the Naxalite organisation ‘The Communist Party of India (Maoist)’. Some believe the list mentions the latter. Communist Party of India (Maoist) was founded in 2004 by CPI-ML, Maoist Communist Centre and the People’s War Group. Indian Government has banned this organization in 2009. In 2022, in its 61 attacks, it killed 39 people and severely injured more than 30.
