Jammu – Johar Mehmood stabbed his girlfriend Dr Sumedha Sharma to death with a butcher’s knife in Jammu city. He later tried to commit suicide. Johar has been hospitalised by the Police and currently undergoing treatment. Dr Sumedha was a resident of the Talab Tillo area of Jammu city, while Johar is a resident of Bhaderwah from the Doda District.

1. Johar posted on his Facebook account that he was going to commit suicide. His relatives called the Police when they saw the post. When the Police reached Johar’s house, it was locked from the inside. The Police broke open the door and saw Dr Sumedha’s body lying in the pool of blood, while Johar was severely injured. Both were rushed to the hospital, but Dr Sumedha was declared dead on arrival. Johar is currently undergoing treatment. The Police have registered an FIR against Johar for the murder.

2. According to the information received from the Police, Dr Sumedha and Johar were in a relationship. Both studied together during their undergraduate days in the dental college in Jammu. After graduating, Dr Sumedha started studying MDS in a college outside Jammu & Kashmir. She was visiting her hometown during the Holi vacation. When she came to meet Johar at his house, they had a fight. When the fight got serious, Johar brought a knife from his kitchen and attacked Dr Sumedha. Later he stabbed himself.
