Pune (Maharashtra) – Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is not just a name, but it is an idea, an intention, and a goal. An inspiration to those who dream of living and dying for one’s Swadharma, Swaraj, and Swabhasha. Chhatrapati in his 50 years did not just lead in various wars, he gave the people the energy to change their mentality of a defeated people to that of those fighting for their nation. He taught a lesson to those who were insulting the Hindus. He also gave them the desire to even sacrifice their life if the situation so demands. Today 396 years after his time the ideals he espoused are still alive. This can only be done by people who are guided by the Divine. Union Home minister Amit Shah said that Chhatrapati was an Iconic personality. He was speaking at the inauguration of the ‘Sarkarwada’ in the ‘Shiv Srishti’.

Amit Shah added, that Chhatrapati renovated numerous Temples destroyed by foreigners. He wanted to establish Swaraj. He never fought a war to increase his empire. Swaraj means ruling according to our culture and Dharma. He gave importance to the Sanskrit language. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj adopted a unique way of ruling by establishing a Cabinet of ‘Eight Ministers’. Chhatrapati protected and promoted the ‘Sant Parampara’. He was truly a Ruler without any desire for self-enjoyment.

Shah said that by traveling around the country, ‘Shiv Shahir’ Babasaheb Purandare ji dedicated his whole life to compiling Shiv Charitra, so that the bravery stories of Shivaji Maharaj can reach the masses. It is due to his efforts that today the number of people who know about Shivaji Maharaj in the country is so high. It is a great favour that he did for us. When this project is completed, the young generation will know about Chhatrapati’s life, the battles he fought, his governance, his style of working, foresight, and bravery. This project will be an inspiration not just for India but to Shivaji’s admirers all over the world.
