Recover Rs 97 crore from AAP, orders Delhi’s Lt Governor

Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, VK Saxena

New Delhi – Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, VK Saxena, ordered the Delhi administration to recover Rs 97 crores from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) since the Delhi CM Kejriwal had utilised Government money for AAP advertisements. AAP has been given a time of 15 days to repay the amount. Lt Governor Saxena has accused Kejriwal of publishing political advertisements as Government advertisements. In August 2016, Delhi High Court set up a 3-member Committee on this issue. The Committee submitted its report on 16th September 2016 and AAP was found guilty.

Editorial Viewpoint

  • Such parties should be banned for using public money for selfish political interests !
  • AAP was created to fight corruption, but is itself involved in corrupt practices; hence, it cannot prevent corruption as is clear now !
