Shia Muslims’ religious procession attacked by a Muslim mob in Pakistan

Attacks to oppose the procession passing in front of the mosque

Sialkot (Pakistan) – Shia Muslims are constantly attacked in Pakistan. On 17^th September, a mob of Muslims attacked a religious procession of Shia Muslims in Sialkot with pistols, stones, etc. There were more than 13 injuries. Some of them are in critical condition. Social media users in Pakistan condemned the attack. In response to this attack, there is a demand to ban Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan.

The Police said that tensions had been ongoing between Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan and Shia Muslims along the procession route for the past few days. Shia Muslims say their procession always follows that route, while this organisation claims it shouldn’t pass by our mosque. After discussions with Shia Muslims, the Tehreek-e-Labbaik agreed to have no objections to this procession. However, it was attacked that day. Thirty people have been charged in this case, but no one has been arrested.
