Darul Uloom Deoband’s support for the Uttar Pradesh Government’s move to survey madarasas

Deoband (Uttar Pradesh)  – An important meeting of Darul Uloom Deoband, the main centre of Islamic education, was recently held in connection with the ongoing madarasa survey in Uttar Pradesh. In this meeting, the Darul Uloom Deoband supported the madarasa survey process of the Government. After this move, the opposition politics on this issue is expected to reduce. The Darul Uloom has clarified in the meeting that madarasas built on Government lands are illegal.

1. Maulana (Islamic scholar) Arshad Madani, president of the All India Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, addressed a press conference after the meeting about the madarasa survey. He said ‘The order given by the Government to survey the madarasas is correct. It is not wrong. Hence we should support the Government in this endeavour. Darul Uloom is in agreement with the educational policy of the Government.

2. The heads of an estimated 250 madarasas across the State affiliated to the Darul Uloom Deoband participated in the meeting held at Rashid Masjid, Deoband. Journalists and photographers were not allowed to the event. After the completion of the program, a press conference was held on behalf of Darul Uloom and the crux of the entire meeting was informed to the press.
