Bengaluru (Karnataka) – The Karnataka Government has made it mandatory for all schools and colleges in the State to sing the national anthem every morning. This order of the State Government will be applicable to all Government, private and aided educational institutions. ‘If there is no place to assemble and sing the National Anthem in an educational institution, students can sing the National Anthem in their classrooms’, the Government said in the order.

Education Minister’s order to take action against 3 private schools
Despite such an order, the education department had received complaints that some primary schools in the capital city of Bengaluru were not singing the national anthem. A subsequent investigation found that the National Anthem was not sung during prayers in 3 private schools in Bengaluru. These include Bishop Cotton Boys High School, St Joseph Boys High School and Baldwin Girls High School. State Education Minister B C Nagesh ordered action against these schools.

It is clear from this that these convent schools which do not sing the national anthem do not inculcate patriotism in its students. The Government should revoke the licenses of such institutions to run schools ! |
