Karnataka’s Education Minister appeals to celebrate Shri Ganesh Chaturthi in schools and colleges in the State

Karnataka’s Education Minister B C Nagesh

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – Karnataka’s Education Minister B C Nagesh has appealed to schools and colleges in the State to celebrate Shri Ganesh Chaturthi on 31st August. Muslim organisations have criticised this appeal. Muslim girls are banned from wearing hijab (the head and neck covering worn by Muslim women) in school and college premises; Then why is Shri Ganesh Chaturthi allowed to celebrate, the question is being asked.

Saeed Moeen, a member of Campus Front of India, the student wing of Jihadi organisation Popular Front of India, said, ‘The Education Minister’s permission to install Ganesh Idols in Government schools and colleges is an attempt to gain political advantage by creating unrest in the education sector. This is objectionable and shameful. Ironically, this is the same minister who had earlier stated that ‘religious practices cannot be allowed in educational institutions’. Won’t the sentiments of students from other religious communities be hurt’ ?
