A 1,200-year-old Hindu temple free of encroachment in Pakistan

Valmiki temple

Lahore (Pakistan) – A 1,200-year-old Hindu temple in the Punjab of Pakistan has been retrieved from illegal possession. After winning a legal battle against a Christian family, the temple has been freed. Against this background, a religious function has been organised in the local temple on 3rd August.

A Christian family had taken possession of the Valmiki temple located close to the well-known Anarkali Bazaar in Lahore. The Christian family claims to have converted to Hindu Dharma. Now the temple is going to be renovated as the Hindus have got the possession.

In 1992, a vengeful crowd carrying guns broke into the Valmiki Temple in India following the destruction of the Babri Masjid. They destroyed the Idols of the Deities too.
