Ratlam (MP) – A case of senior students ragging junior students has been reported at the Government Medical College hostel here. The incident was captured on video and has gone viral on social media. This video shows senior students slapping junior students. The incident occurred two days ago. In response to the information about the incident, Dr Anurag Jain reached the hostel. However, some students threw liquor bottles at Jain himself. He narrowly escaped from this attack. Disciplinary action has been initiated by the college’s disciplinary committee. The college management has not provided any information on this matter.

Similar incidents of ragging have been reported from the same medical college in the past. In this case, some students were suspended for seven days. The current incident shows that the students here are not disciplined even after that.

Editorial viewpoint

In the future, medical students will become doctors and provide medical services to the public. However, this incident illustrates what values they have been inculcated with. A culture-based education is what we need, not just a bookish one.
