The intention underlying the display of this image is not to hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus, but to make them comprehend the denigration – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat |
Mumbai – A poster has been released during a programme ‘Rhythms of Canada’ in which Indian filmmaker Leena Manimekalai has shown an actress, attired as Shri Mahakali Devi, smoking a cigarette. In the background, a rainbow flag, symbolising the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) community, can also be seen. The denigration is being opposed on social media; the hashtag ‘#ArrestLeenaManimekalai’ trending on Twitter, with some of them demanding intervention by PM Modi and the Home Minister through action against the documentary.
In her documentary, she is showing Kaali smoking cigarette, and she stands in solidarity with zubair as well.
Wow. Asking Supreme Court Judge is it okay to behead someone after this? pic.twitter.com/nRPwg5SIw4— Aaj Ki Taza Khabar (youtube channel) (@AKTKadmin) July 3, 2022
Opinions expressed through the social media
1. It is a deliberate attempt to hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus. One cannot misuse the freedom of expression.
2. I request Leena Manimekalai to remove this poster as it is hurting the religious sentiments of millions of Hindus.
3. I was shocked to see this poster. From M F Hussain to you, you all get pleasure in denigrating Hindus’ Deities, which is your aim. It is objectionable. Please remove this poster.
Editorial viewpoint
Pakistan has Blasphemy laws against criticism of Islam but no such law exists in India; therefore, people making mockery of Hindu Deities go scot-free. Hindus feel that the Central Government should also promptly pass a law with death sentence for such kind of crimes ! |
