Guwahati (Assam) – Assam State is most affected by the deluge caused by incessant rain, with about 22 lakh individuals affected by it. 1,934 villages in 27 out of the 34 districts of the State are suffering from the deluge. Floods and landslides have caused a toll of about 174 dead. The rivers Brahmaputra, Kopili, Desang, Burhi Dihing are all flowing above the danger mark.

Rescue work by the Disaster Response Team
The crops in about 50,714 hectares have been destroyed in the floods. As well as thousands of houses, roads, bridges and irrigation canals have been damaged. The ‘National Disaster Response Team’ and the ‘State Disaster Response Team’ are continuously engaged in rescue work
2 Lakh and 77 thousand people in the Rescue Camps
The Government has set up 404 rescue camps in the 23 Districts for the 2.7 lakh people to stay. Along with this, the Government has set up 138 Help Centres to distribute aid to the flood-affected.
