Imran Khan’s supporters set the metro station on fire

Islamabad (Pakistan) – Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Party has called for general elections in the country. They started this March named Azadi Morcha. The March has drawn thousands of supporters to Islamabad. Islamabad has been declared a red zone by the Pakistan Government to stop the March. The Home Ministry has ordered troops to be sent to Islamabad. As the PTI activists entered the city, they clashed violently with supporters of the Pakistan Government. Furthermore, Imran Khan’s supporters set the metro station on fire. In response, the Police tried to disperse the supporters by breaking the tear gas canisters. In some places, Police lathi-charged protestors. In response, PTI activists pelted stones at the Police.

The PTI has demanded the immediate dissolution of the 13-party coalition Government of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. In addition, it is also demanded that a caretaker Government be formed and elections be held as soon as possible. The term of the current Parliament is till August 2023.
