Student slaps professor for making offensive statement about Kashi Vishwanath Temple

Lucknow (UP) – Ravikant Chandan, a Hindi professor at Lucknow University, was slapped by a student Kartik Pandey. The incident took place on the university campus.

1. On 7th May, Prof. Ravikant Chandan participated in a discussion held on a news channel regarding the survey of Gyanvapi Masjid.  Quoting the book Feathers and Stones by Pattabhi Sitaramayya he said, Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb demolished the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi because of unethical activity that had taken place there. (If the Prof. of a University supports cruel Aurangzeb’s acts of demolishing temples, no need to say what they must be teaching the future generations. – Editor)

2. Kartik Pandey slapped Prof. Ravikant for what he had narrated. On receiving the information, the Police brought Kartik to the Police station, where both of them accused each other of beating, however, neither of them lodged a written complaint with the Police.

3. After the statement on Kashi Vishwanath temple, agitation had started against Prof. Ravikant. A case was registered against him at Hassanganj Police station on 10th May.

If anyone is making offensive statements about Hindu religious places, the Police should proactively take action against them, it won’t be surprising if the public raises hue and cries over it otherwise.
