Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa refuses to resign

Colombo (Sri Lanka) – Amid the ongoing political upheaval in Sri Lanka triggered by the massive economic crisis, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has refused to resign at the demand of the opposition parties, but is ready to hand over the Government to whichever party holds 113 seats wins in the majority in Parliament.

Earlier also, when all the ministers in the cabinet had resigned, Rajapaksa had appealed to the opposition parties to join the cabinet. Opposition parties refused to accept that offer.
