  • The Legislative Assembly is for serving the public. The adjournment of the House caused financial loss. The Government should recover it from those who wasted the time of the House by creating ruckus over a trivial demand.
  • To permanently stop such incidents in the country, it has become imperative to enact a Uniform Civil Code.
Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha

Patna (Bihar) – AIMIM MLA Akhtarul Iman and CPI (ML) MLA Mehboob Alam demanded adjournment of the House till 12.30 pm on Friday, 11th March, in the Bihar Legislative Assembly. Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal MLAs also supported this demand. The Speaker of the Assembly did not adjourn the House for namaz, so the opposition created a ruckus. As the tempers ran high the House was adjourned till 14th March.

Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha said work cannot stop for Friday namaz. Those who want to offer namaz can go outside the room and offer namaz. MLAs Alam and Iman opposed this, saying it is an old tradition of the House.

Speaker Sinha replied traditions and rules can change with time. Those who want to offer namaz have already been allowed to speak in the House.
