Scientific study conducted by Maharshi Adhyatma Vishwavidyalay using the UAS (Universal Aura Scanner)
‘On the occasion of Diwali, we buy new clothes for the family members with great enthusiasm. Ready-made clothes are available in the market on the occasion of Diwali in different designs and colours and arranged very attractively. Therefore, while buying clothes, the person’s mind naturally gets attracted towards them and the clothes are bought as per liking. Clothes have a subtle effect on our mind and intellect. While choosing clothes for our family, we should ensure that they are Sattvik in addition to being attractive. By wearing Sattvik clothes we are able to imbibe the Sattva predominant component in them. We shall now understand, ‘How to identify sattvik clothes ?’
The Universal Aura Scanner (UAS) was developed in 2005 by Dr. Mannem Murthy, a former nuclear scientist from Telengana. By using this instrument the energy and the aura of an object, a premises, an animal or an individual can be measured.
1. How sattvik clothes are, depends on the type of the cloth, its colour, the design on the cloth and the stitching of the clothes : Every object has positive or negative vibrations according to its properties. Since the vibrations of the objects around us and in our use constantly affect us, we should ensure that these objects are Sattva predominant. The clothes we wear have maximum contact with us compared to other objects. The type of cloth, its colour, the design on it and the stitching decide the Sattvikta of clothes.
1 A. Type of cloth : Fabric woven from natural fibres such as cotton or silk are more Sattvik compared to synthetic ones such as polyester, georgette etc. UAS (Universal Aura Scanner) readings conducted on different clothes, showed that the clothes woven from natural fibres like cotton, silk etc. did not have any negative Energy and contained a lot of positive Energy. On the contrary, clothes made from artificial fibres had no positive energy and had a lot of negative Energy. Even so, a black cotton cloth was found to have a lot of negative Energy and contained no positive Energy. From this, why black colour is not favoured in Hindu dharma becomes apparent.
Type of cloth | Negative Energy Aura (Metres) | Positive Energy Aura (Metres) |
Polyester | 12.42 | 0 |
Georgette | 14.52 | 0 |
Black Cotton | 36.47 | 0 |
White Cotton | 0 | 40.58 |
Silk | 0 | 46.50 |
1 B. Colours of clothes : White, blue, yellow, light pink are Sattvik (Sattva predominant); whereas red, green are Rajasik (Raja predominant) and black etc. are Tamasik (Tama predominant). From the study conducted using the UAS, white was found to have maximum positive energy (17 Metres) followed by blue, yellow, light pink and green in descending order (13 to 7 Metres respectively). On the contrary, black was found to have no positive Energy, but had negative Energy.
Colour | Positive Energy Aura (Metres) |
Green | 7.30 |
Light pink | 9.70 |
Yellow | 10.00 |
Blue | 13.40 |
White | 17.00 |
Maharshi Adyatma Vishvavidyalay performed research using the Universal aura scanner (UAS) to study how the subtle energy of an individual is affected by wearing black and white clothes. From the observations of this study, it was noted that, after wearing black clothes, the person’s negative Energy increased. On the contrary, after wearing white clothes, the person’s negative Energy was nullified and positive Energy was found in him.
1 C. Design on the clothes : There are 3 types of designs on clothes, namely Sattvik, Rajasik and Tamasik. While choosing clothes with designs for example, it can include dots, leaves, flowers and vines. While choosing floral designs they should not have sharp pointed tips but be delicate and attractive. If the designs are too close, distressing vibrations are emitted from them. Even if bigger floral designs are printed closely they produce distressing vibrations. The more sparsely placed the designs, the better the vibrations emitted from them. A study was conducted to see how the surroundings are affected by the vibrations propagated from the Sattvik, Rajasik and Tamasik designs on clothes.
Sattvik Design of Cloth
Rajasik Design of Cloth
Tamsik Design of Cloth
Vibrations from the Design of Cloth
Design on cloth | Negative Energy Aura (Metres) | Positive Energy Aura (Metres) |
Sattvik | 0 | 17.70 |
Rajasik | 12.82 | 1.25 |
Tamasik | 22.80 | 0 |
1 C 1. From the cloth with Sattvik designs, positive vibrations being emitted to a large extent : From the blue coloured cloth with a floral design of delicate and sparsely spread out white flowers, positive vibrations were emitted to a large extent.
1 C 2. From the cloth with rajasik designs, positive vibrations to a small extent and negative vibrations to a large extent were emitted : From the pink cloth with floral design of different sizes and pointed brown leaves placed closely, positive vibrations to a small extent and negative vibrations to a large extent were emitted.
1 C 3. The reason for negative vibrations being emitted to a large extent from tamasik designs : The black cloth with skull prints of different sizes emitted tama vibrations. As per the principle of Spirituality ‘Word, touch, form, taste, smell and their energy co-exist ’. So just as after seeing a beautiful fresh flower one feels happy; after seeing a skull there is fear and restlessness. From flowers, the vibrations of happiness, whereas from skulls, distressing vibrations are emitted.
2. Effect at a spiritual level on women after wearing Sattvik and non-sattvik clothes : Jeans, T-shirts are an attire which have come from foreign culture but have now become an inseparable part of a Hindu woman in present times. Whereas the traditional 9 yard saree, which represented the identity of Hindu women, is now mostly limited to the villages only. A person’s attire unknowingly has an effect on the person’s attitude. The current Rajasik- Tamasik attire like T-shirts, jeans make the attitude of a woman extroverted and materialistic whereas the saree, either 6 yards or 9 yards style, tends to make a woman more modest and spiritually introverted. By abiding by Dharma, devotion towards God is generated and a person’s journey towards God realisation begins.
From the table given below, it is noted that by wearing the non-sattvik clothes, the negative Energy of the woman increased. On the contrary, by wearing Sattvik clothes, her negative Energy was nullified and positive Energy was detected in her.
Different clothes worn by the woman | Negative Energy Aura (Metres) | Positive Energy Aura (Metres)
Before wearing | After wearing | Before wearing | After wearing
1. Black tube top dress | 1.97 | 2.28 | 0 | 0 |
2. T-shirt and black pants | 1.98 | 2.26 | 0 | 0 |
3. Salwar kurta | 1.57 | 0 | 0 | 1.29 |
4. 6 yard saree | 2.09 | 0 | 0 | 2.33 |
5. 9 yard saree | 1.28 | 0 | 0 | 3.58 |
3. Fashionable clothes for children and women / men : Nowadays attractive clothes (dresses,T-shirts, jeans, salwar-kurta, pant and shirt, ghagra-choli, sarees etc.) in latest fashions are available in the market. Some specific clothes were studied. In the study, all the clothes were found to have negative energy to some extent; but it was maximum in the jeans. The saree had minimum negative Energy and maximum positive Energy.
The stitching in clothes of children and women is more. The more the stitching, more is the possibility of negative Energy getting attracted to them. On the contrary, less the stitching, less or nil is the negative Energy in them. This was noted from the study given ahead.
Type of clothes | Negative Energy Aura (Metres) | Positive Energy Aura (Metres) |
Yellow saree with green border | 4.97 | 3.18 |
Yellow and purple children’s ghagra- choli (skirt-blouse) | 12.76 | 0.78 |
White T-shirt | 11.48 | 0 |
Green baby dress | 12.32 | 0 |

Dark blue boy’s shirt | 16.20 | 0 |
Brown salwar- kameez | 17.98 | 0 |
Blue Jeans | 30.00 | 0 |
4. How to recognize Sattvik clothes ? : Most clothes look very attractive but may not be Sattvik. Due to the illusory vibrations from the clothes, we get easily attracted towards them. Therefore, studying what the mind perceives on looking at them is important rather than looking at them merely with gross eyes.
Feeling good by looking at the clothes, feeling good or calm by looking at the colour or design on them, feeling good on touching them, etc makes one understand that they are Sattvik. On the contrary, feeling of heaviness looking at them, discomfort looking at the colour or the design on them, or a disturbing sensation on touching them etc.,indicate that the clothes are not Sattvik and one can avoid buying them.
5. After buying clothes, they should be used only after purifying : It was customary in the past to place new clothes before God in the temple room at home. By doing so the clothes get charged by the Divine Energy emitted from the Deities. It also helps to create a sense of gratitude that I am getting to use clothes due to the grace of God. There is a high possibility of black covering over clothes due to Raja-tama environment in the market these days. If the clothes are used without purifying, then one can experience distress due to the vibrations in them. Therefore, clothes should be used only after purifying them
