Rajnath Singh had performed ritualistic worship of the 36 Rafale aircraft when these aircraft were handed over to India. He applied chandan and showered flowers as per Hindu traditions. He had also placed lemons under the wheels and offered coconut. Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge had called this a drama. NCP leader Sharad Pawar had compared Singh with a truck driver who hangs a lemon and chillies for protection.
