Ban Namaz in Eidgah Mosque built on the birthplace of Shrikrushna

A petition in Mathura Court by the Chairman of Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Mukti Andolan Samiti

Editorial comment

  • Why do Hindus have to fight a Court battle to liberate religious places captured by Muslim invaders in the past ? Why doesn’t the Government take steps to ‘liberate’ all such temples ?

Mathura (UP) – A petition has been filed in the Court here seeking a ban on the recitation of Namaz at Eidgah Mosque which is situated on the birthplace of Shrikrushna. The petition also demands a ban on the recitation of Namaz on road adjacent to the mosque. (Why does one need to go to Court and demand a ban on Namaz taking place on streets ? Don’t the Police and the Administration see it ? Are they blind ? Hindus do not expect this to happen in a BJP-ruled State ! – Editor) The petition has been filed by Mahendra Pratap Singh, Advocate and Chairman of Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Mukti Andolan Samiti. The matter is likely to be heard on 5th January 2022.

  1. The petition states that according to the Quran, it is forbidden to offer Namaz on the disputed land. The practice of offering Namaz 5 times in this mosque has been going on for some time and it is illegal. Earlier, Namaz was not offered in this mosque. Now it is being recited on the streets as well. This is a conspiracy to disrupt social harmony.
  2. The petition cites a 1920 Court case. The Court had said, ‘The site of Eidgah Masjid belongs to Hindus’. This petition also states that there are still religious symbols of Hindus like Om, Shesh Nag, Swastik, etc. on the walls of this Eidgah mosque.
  3. In this case, a proposal was put forth by Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Mukti Andolan Samiti in June. According to this proposal, the mosque was proposed to be given a large space elsewhere. It also said that the present mosque should be demolished by Muslims and the land should be given to Hindus.
