• Why such a demand should be made ? Hindus feel that the Government should have proactively declared the cow as a national animal by now. 

New Delhi – Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP) Kirori Lal Meena made a demand in Rajya Sabha to bring an effective law to stop cow slaughter and to declare cow as ‘national animal’. Meena said, “People in Sanatan Dharma worship cow. It is an integral part of Indian culture and it has the status of a mother.”
