River Saraswati flows 45 meters underground at the confluence of rivers Ganga and Yamuna in Prayagraj (UP) : An electromagnetic survey

Prayagraj (UP) – Scientists have discovered through an electromagnetic survey that the river Saraswati flows 45 meters underground at the meeting point of rivers Ganga and Yamuna. The study in this regard has been published in a journal –‘Advanced Earth and Space Science’ of the scientists of ‘Council of Scientific and Industrial Research ’ and ‘National Geographical Research Institute’. It is said that 12 thousand years ago, the river Saraswati had disappeared from the earth. As per the Holy texts of Hindu Dharma, rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati have their origins in the Himalayas.

Rivers are the widely used water source in India. On the backdrop of this, research is being carried out to see if not only the water from the Himalayas but also the underground water can be brought to use. The scientists used 3D mapping and electromagnetic survey methods for this research.

Through this survey, it was discovered that there exists an ancient river at the bottom of the rivers Ganga and Yamuna. The flow of this river converges with the rivers Ganga and Yamuna. This ancient river is 45 km in length, 4 km wide and 15 meters deep. The full water of the riverbed can be provided to the 300-2,000 sq. meter surface area. This paleochannel of this river also helps to control the water level of rivers Ganga and Yamuna.

The director of the National Geophysical Research Institute has informed that the river Saraswati exists 45 meters underground and is as old as 10-12 thousand years. The survey in this regard is still in progress. It has come to light by now that this river flow in the direction of Kanpur.

The Central Government had appointed a committee of 7 members for the research of ancient rivers. The committee had presented a report in 2016. The report had claimed to have the proofs of the ancient river Saraswati flowing underground. The Central Government had discovered the river Saraswati in the States Rajasthan and Haryana. The scientists have also claimed that the river Saraswati originates in the Himalayas and finally merges into the Arabian sea.
