Stand taken by the Central Government in Delhi High Court
New Delhi – Although a homosexual relationship is not a crime, yet marriage between homosexuals is illegal. Marriage is valid only between one biological man and one biological woman; the Central Government took the stand in Delhi High Court.

The Central Government expressed this during the hearing of the petitions seeking legalisation of same-sex marriage under the Hindu Marriage Act, the Special Marriage Act and the Foreign Marriage Act.
