‘Respect the National Flag Campaign’ taken up by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and Sanatan Sanstha

Objective in depicting this is not to hurt national sentiments, but to highlight the nature of insult.

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and Sanatan Sanstha have jointly undertaken this important campaign ‘Respect our National Flag’ at the national level. As a part of this campaign :

1. Attempts are being made to educate children in various schools, putting up appeals in public places and on notice boards, and reaching maximum people through the medium of the Internet.

2. Appealing to people through newspapers to participate in this campaign.

3. Meeting Chief Ministers of some States and demanding that strict action be taken in cases of insult to the National Flag.

4. Demanding a ban on plastic flags.

5. Arranging to keep Flag collection boxes at various places in many cities to collect Flags on Republic Day. These collected Flags will be respectfully disposed off by burning, etc. as per the Flag Code of India, 2002.

Guidelines for disposal of damaged Flags

When the Flag is in a damaged or soiled condition, it shall be destroyed as a whole in private, preferably by respectful burning or by any other method consistent with the dignity of the Flag. (Flag Code of India 2002, Section II, Point 2.2 [xiii])

Only Hindu Janajagruti Samiti & Sanatan Sanstha have undertaken ‘Respect our National Flag’ campaign at the national level !
