The archaeology department inspects the ruins
Aurangzeb demolished the Kashi Vishvanath Temple and built a mosque is a part of history. Evidence of this fact is available. The Government and the Supreme Court should consider these proofs and hand over the original Temple plot to Hindus.
Varanasi (UP) – During the excavation at Dnyanvapi Masjid opposite the famous Kashi Vishvanath Temple here, the ruins of an old temple were found. These ruins belong to the 15th or 16th century. The temple was demolished and a mosque was built at the behest of Aurangzeb. Similar ruins were also found two years ago when the eastern wall of the mosque was demolished. Now a few more ruins are discovered. This has pushed forward the demand to liberate the temples at Kashi and Mathura from Muslims.

- In Varanasi, the highway construction as a part of the special project by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was going on. These ruins were noticed during the excavation with JCB machines. The excavation work is suspended. A cave was found at the site. The inspection will decide if it is a cave or tunnel. The officers from the Archaeology visited the site and collected the items. They took photographs of the site. However, they declined to comment on these findings. They stated, ‘The report of our findings will be submitted to the temple authorities.’ District Collector Subhash Yadav and Ex-Professor of Banaras Hindu University Maruti Tiwari were in the team.
- The excavation was going on near the Aparnath Math, Shrungar Gauri in the Temple complex. The ruins contain decorative pieces, including Kalash (urn), and Lotus. Temple authorities did not give any comments.
The history of Kashi Vishwanth Temple
The Kashi Vishvanath Temple is one of the most revered of the 12 temples of Shiv. This is the original residing place of Shiv and Parvati. It is called the Adi Ling. Sacred scriptures Mahabharata and Upanishads contain references to this Temple. King Harishchandra, in the 11th Century BC reconstructed this temple. In the year 1194 AD, Mohammad Ghori demolished the temple. It was built again. In 1447 AD the Sultan of Jaunpur Mahmood Shah razed it. On 18th April 1669, Aurangzeb ordered the demolition of this temple and constructed Dnyanvapi Mosque. The copy of the original order of the Aurangzeb is preserved in the Asiatic Library at Kolkata. Thousands of Hindus in Varanasi were converted to Islam on the orders of Aurangzeb. The heirs of the majority of Muslims in Uttar Pradesh were Hindus.
