HJS effect : Amazon removes Ganesh and Om toilet mats

Protest against anti-National & anti-Dharma incidents with restraint !

The main objective in protesting against anti-Hindu elements is to bring about an ideological change in them. Therefore, any protest should be at the ideological level on the strength of relevant theoretical points. Here, the expansive perspective should be to bring the erring individual onto the right path by pointing out his mistake.

Mumbai – On 11th January 2020, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) protested against Amazon US for selling Ganesh, Om Bathroom rugs and toilet mats from its website. HJS also appealed to Amazon to remove all products immediately and apologise for their mistake, else Hindus would boycott Amazon.

After this, hashtag #BoycottAmazon started trending and many users asked Amazon to remove the products that hurt Hindu sentiments. Soon it became the top trend in India and reached 4th spot for some time. Since Hindus protested, it appears that Amazon has removed most of the products. However, Amazon has not apologised for repeating its mistake and 1 product is still available on its website.

Amazon has been selling products that hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus for some years now. After protests from Hindus, Amazon has removed some of these products from time to time. But Amazon repeats its mistake, thus, ignoring the sentiments of Hindus.

Earlier too, Amazon had insulted India by selling a wrong map of India (in which J&K was missing) and Tricolor doormats. These were removed after protests by Indians and intervention of the then Foreign Minister, Mrs. Sushma Swaraj.
